A rare Starrett 192 "vibrameter" was a great score, along with a mystery item that turned out to be a "High point" by Bennett jig for balancing RC helicopter props.

JCB Midi CX Backhoe repair: Will it run Part 2

I head back out to the property where I bought this non running backhoe armed with more tools, and a basic idea that I'm dealing with a fuel issue, possibly an injector pump problem.
2008 JCB Backhoe has not run in years. Will it run? Part 1
Просмотров 280Месяц назад
I took a big risk and bought this 2008 JCB Midi backhoe loader from an estate. The heirs of the estate said they thought it had been running as recently as 2 years ago. However, the paperwork the late owner had suggests it more than likely has been sitting for about 8 years. First order of business, getting it running well enough to raise the hydraulics, and drive it onto a trailer to get it home.

Day 2 of picking Brimfield Flea Market. This Flea market opens for one week, three times a year, and is huge! I go for machinist tools, but often find other interesting items. Due to work, I only hit the show on 2 days in July, I usually try 3 days since different fields open on different days.

Great videos. I got mine for free as they were about to recycle it. Worked for 2 1/2 months for me but is an 2007 model.
Great series. I have a similar Hitachi that just went out with same issue.
I change the stator n cdi still no spark
Thank you so much for making this video and covering all the areas that will be 'tough' to get through! Too many DIY videos these days where the dissembling process is being demonstrated with parts that were newly assembled for the sake of the video. For the removal of the cartridge - is there any way to do this *without* turning off the cold water valve? I'm in a high rise where the water is extremely hard, and valves are often completely stuck (and forcing them to close shut often results in a a leaking valve we cannot stop). The only way to turn off the water & change the valve is for the building to shut water off to the entire zone (10 floors x 12 units) and drain the water from all the floors down to your unit, and they rarely do these. Just hoping there may be a way to still change out the cartridge (!). Thank you!
Steve, Thank you for your awesome detailed videos. Extremely helpful. Also thank you for your "wire in the cylinder" trick. That was a lifesaver trying to get that fan nut off...🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻. Also, thank you for explaining about the "Decompression" gear. I didn't even know that had one till you mentioned it. Question, so to get the correct valve adjusted to proper size, you just tighten the 8mm nut on top? Also, there are no valve seals, correct?
You gave 4 gears there by you left leg on dash you have 3 plus reverse by your leg is 1 thur 4 gears.
Got the hum from the motor for the first time plus some burning smell. After watching the video checked the capacitor - several bulges and a big blob which leaked out of it. Ordered the new capacitor now - should solve the problem. Thank you.
WOW, Finally a different youtube video with an old lathe Backgear shaft being removed! It's always little Southbend or Atlas lathes showing the simple little shaft removals, and never the big old lathes with more complicated assemblies... This might be the same as mine that I can't figure out. Thanks man, even though this was from 9 years ago!
I think you could control the telescope using pc (StarPatcher software) but you’ll need a RS232 to USB connection cable
You rock dude!👍
To take off the permanent marker off the gages, run your finger on your forehead to collect the oil ,then run the forehead oil on the permanent marker will dissolve it. Then clean up with a cloth. It does work.
fresh marker n old also works
The Bosch one could be used for car and motorcycle because bosch does do a lot of sparkplugs and automotive related stuff i use one last week for timining the spark on my est german scooter from 1969 Greetings from Germany
@@chrisritter7413 Greetings. Spent some time on Germany black in the 80's US Army) I really enjoyed my visit.
Hey Steve, what ended happening to the tower of power??
@@chrisrainville6324 I still own it. Sadly we do not used the boat enough since the boys got older and lost interest in tubing. It has not been back on the water in 2 years.
This guy is on the $$$
@@codysipes8008 Thanks!
@@stevewatr You are literally helping me rebuild a 2000 Yamaha grizzly 600. Thanks for the info!
Just happened this week eventually I sprayed ether on the air filter and it started right up
Been through it, Steve. Yup, everything you told them not to do…. Somehow I made it through ..barely. 🥴
"HEET" FOR GAS IS GOOD FOR WHEN YOU GET WATER INSIDE OF YOUR GAS TANK.
PRI is for prime and it lets the gas go freely without vacuum. Reserved or on the gas only flows while the bike is started because of the vacuum.
I had my entire crankcase fill up with gas after replacing the whole top end of the motor because my float got stuck open. That is definitely a horrible design, I agree 100%
Get it done
Have a merc 100 horse. Runs but always dies out at low speeds. Won’t idle at all. Any ideas?😅
@@gkrocks6252 couple things come to mind. Partially clogged passages in idle circuit of carburetor(s). Also could be weak fuel pumps. Also check for simple things like clogged vent on the fuel tank or a faulty primer bulb.
@@stevewatr I'll give that a try! Thanks. Won't start without choke after it dies either.
Wow! Great Video! I Ike the way you explained things as you go! My I Ford 5000 power steering assembly has been leaking bad for several years, so I am trying to put in a seal kit. My assembly looks a lot different than that! Mine is not a row crop and appears to be built in 1973. I can’t get my assemble off the tractor. I think I have all of the bolts out. So I came on here to see some videos about it.
Seems like u need to calibrate adjust the trigger I might be wrong
15 seconds in... clogged jets. My prediction
A bit difficult to watch-such a superb telescope in its day :-)
Thanks
A quick happy Father’s Day to my RUclips dad, thanks for teaching me how to do this.
Great info! Thank you. I was stuck on figuring if the arrow should be to the right or left.
Thank you- same problem, I thought it was the relay
I collect interesting mechanical wrenches like the Sppednut wrench.
Outstanding explanation and source research. Knowledgeable presentation. Thank you. Much appreciated.
Usually a good rule of thumb, you replace the rubber hose when you replace the calipers.
Wonderful
The accessory for the prop balancer is for levelling the setup.
Give been told the extra part is for balancing helicopter props.
@@stevewatr Could be. I was supposing the same purpose as the similar accessory for the grinding wheel balancer at my old shop but good enough at a budget (it had precision cross levels, not a bullseye). I'd love to know how it is used for that.
it's an awl for sewing canvas, tarps, and such. Also called a Speedy stitcher.
i seen a lot of these MS290 video's but this one out does all of them. good job
7:16 YOU ARE TURNING THAT FLYWHEEL THE WRONG WAY LEFT LOOSEN AND RIGHT TIGHTEN
I don’t know much about tools and not very Interested really but for some reason really like watching these videos. So keep up the work 👍
I had no idea how to get the fixtures off. Quick question. I'm assuming both the hot and cold still get screwed in righty tighty, lefty lucy and not according to the way the direction of the hot or cold for removing and installing the cartridges?
I only did the one side, but I believe you are correct, no left handed threads.
It's been 1 year since this video, and I am pretty sure your son has demolished the car by now.
Lol. Nope. He sold it, then the timing belt broke. Then he bought the car back and we put a timing belt in it. At was running after that but he has another car so the civic is sitting there collecting mice. Probably will sell it for parts soon.
The only helpfull vid on this....
I had the same problem, but with your help, I was able to reair😢 my ms310. Thank you. Great job.
Doubtful it's a cap looks like there's probably a 555 ic in there. Cap would be suspect if it was a discrete circut
Should stand on dry plywood before welding on your knees. Sometimes the ground cable falls to the ground when supposedly attached.
Brass scrap is only $2.40 per pound.
Its higher at my nearest yard. That thing was heavier than it looks. I am not scrapping it, so doesn't really matter at this point. 😉
Thanks for a great informative video.
👍👍
Steve, you really need to catch up on your videos
I know. Not enough hours in the day to get all these videos made, and edited.
I paid $800 for mine from home depot
